Outside at Eastnor

Friday, January 23rd, 2009

Outside a company part of D3 have based part of their business at the old stables here for the last 3 years.  They are a leading agency supplying brand experiences, adventure-based events, product launches and vehicle demonstration courses.  They work regularly with Land Rover at Eastnor and elsewhere, and were involved in the new Defender launch here in 2007 and ran the UK selections for the Land Rover G4 Challenge.

Outside have set up a series of team building activities in the grounds and, as the images below show, they use the castle for abseiling and a spectacular zip wire ride across the lake.  Companies coming here for corporate training days or off-site meetings can now add an interesting new activity to their programmes.

Most of the castle team, voluntarily of course, have tried the zip wire across the lake.  I certainly enjoyed it myself and might even have been tempted to try dropping off into the lake half way across if I had not been thoroughly secured to the wire by a harness.  The zip wire and abseiling are popular as sponsored activities for fund raising for charity.       J H-B

Eastnor Castle In The Gossip!

Friday, January 16th, 2009

Here at Eastnor Castle we are used to seeing ‘famous faces’. Over the years we have welcomed a plethera of celebrities and for a variety of reasons.

As a filming location the castle and estate has seen many television, photography and film crews along with their star-studded casts over the years - indeed, as far back as 1969 when MGM came to Eastnor Castle to film ‘One More Time’ with Sammy Davis Jnr.

Since then the castle has played host to numerous BBC television drama and documentary productions including ‘The Pallisers’ (1974), ‘Little Lord Fauntleroy’ (1994), ‘Dracula’ (2006), ‘Stately Suppers’ and ‘Country Lives’.

It is as a wedding venue however that Eastnor Castle’s romantic setting brings perhaps the greatest reward.

Attracting couples from all over Britain, the castle is today one of the country’s premier wedding venues. But what do they think AFTER their big day has come and gone? Well, hearing back from couples after they have hosted their wedding party here is very important to us - and they do let us know! We take great pride in how Eastnor Castle can add that all important, extra special dimension to someone’s wedding day.

Our wedding testimonials page is well worth reading.

Today we enjoyed a little extra ‘wedding’ excitement because Eastnor cropped up in a bit of ‘tv gossip’! This afternoon (16 January 2009), ITV 3’s hugely popular, daytime programme ‘Loose Women’ featured an interview with ‘Big Brother’ presenter Davina Mccall. When asked about her wedding she was delighted to mention that she had chosen Eastnor Castle for her wedding venue. We did of course know that she had been very happy with her ‘big day’ here but a public broadcast brings an undoubted, additional satisfaction. Thank you Davina.
