An evening of CLASSICAL FLUTE AND HARP MUSIC with KARIN LEITNER AND DUCCIO LOMBARDI on Friday 1st October 2004 in support of ST. MICHAEL'S HOSPICE and HEREFORD CATHEDRAL CHOIR Karin Leitner & Duccio Lombardi met in 1999 when they were selected as international competition winners to perform the Mozart Flute & Harp Concerto at the International Festival de Musique in Besancon, France that was broadcasted live on TV and Radio. Due to their instant musical chemistry they decided to create a Duo and work together, soon they were touring all over the world. They have given performances in castles all over France, England and Ireland; they have been invited to perform at International Music Festivals and Music Series in Austria, South Africa, England, Ireland, China, Guatemala, Switzerland, Australia, Italy and France. They gave their debut recital at the Golden Hall of the Musikverein in Vienna where they played the Mozart Flute & Harp Concerto as part of the Vienna Mozart Orchestra, and they have been busy touring ever since. They have also recorded a CD in Vienna, which was featured in a CD-Presentation and an Artists Portrait on Radio Lyric Fm and Midland Radio 3 (Ireland) as well as in the Irish top magazine „Social & Personal“; they have done special appearances in Radio interviews in South Africa, Austria, Hungary and France. Karin & Duccio have also spent a great deal of time doing workshops for children, especially children from underprivileged backgrounds, whilst touring in Ireland they did workshops with the Northern Ireland Cross Communication Project for Catholics and Protestants, whilst in China they gave various master classes, and during their tour of South Africa they worked with the Yehudi Menuhin Project in a Township. As part of their work they have played charity concerts, for many leading charities across the world; The British Red Cross, The Cancer Research Trust, Springboard for Children and Unicef After hearing them play, the English composer David Punshon was inspired to compose a Concerto for them, which they will soon be performing with the Cape Town Philharmonic, Durban Philharmonic and Johannesburg Philharmonic, during their next tour of South Africa.
